Recently, the floating wind-power foundation, which was jointly designed by ECO TLP and Ocean Offshore, has received principle approval (AiP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
The design of ECO TLP is based on a cylindrical concrete platform, tension leg mooring system, and gravity anchor, which occupies a much smaller sea area than traditional floating platforms.
ECO TLP CEO Nicole Johnson Murphy said, "Our design is mainly suitable for water depths of 200-3000 meters, which can greatly simplify installation work. From the perspective of investment and operation costs, our platform can use universal components, and personnel do not need to undergo specialized training. Compared to components that need to be specially manufactured in specific factories and personnel who have undergone specialized training, the cost is extremely low."
The design is currently in the front-end engineering design stage of ABS.
Miguel Hernandez, Senior Vice President of ABS Global Offshore Owners, said, "Floating offshore wind power will play a crucial role in the global energy transition, expanding renewable power generation capacity to waters too deep for fixed bottom wind power projects.".
"ABS is honored to support innovative companies such as ECO TLP, which are addressing and addressing challenges related to offshore wind power manufacturing, installation, and cost with their unique designs."
